The City of Santa Clarita is excited to invite residents to purchase tickets for the 44th Annual City of Santa Clarita Dodger Day. This year’s game will be between the hometown Los Angeles Dodgers and their longtime rivals, the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, June 17, at 6:10 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online by visiting SCVDodgerDay.com.

      Dodger Day, sponsored by Henry Rodriguez, State Farm Insurance Agent, offers Santa Clarita residents a chance to catch a ballgame with family and friends.       SCV Historical Society Selected for Year-long Museum Review

      The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society is pleased to announce that it has been selected to participate in the American Alliance of Museums’ 2023 Museum Assessment Program, a critical step toward museum accreditation. AAM, founded in 1906, is a national organization representing the entire scope of the museum field.

      Since 1975, the SCV Historical Society has been a resource for the valley and surrounding areas of local history, preserving artifacts, and sharing the stories of the people who founded and grew the communities of Newhall, Saugus, Canyon Country and Valencia into the city of Santa Clarita and beyond.

      “It’s a great honor for the Historical Society to have been chosen for the Museum Assessment Program,” said Society president Alan Pollack. “This reflects our determination to evolve from a small, volunteer-driven local history advocate to a full, professional museum presence in Santa Clarita. We intend to create one of the premier local history museums in Southern California.”

      For over 50 years, the Museum Assessment Program (MAP) has helped more than 5,000 museums of all types strengthen their operations, plan for the future, and meet current professional standards. “We served a relatively small, incorporated town of about 70,000 people when we opened in 1980 with one museum building in Hart Park,” said Society vice president Leon Worden. “Today, we need to be serving a community that is not only four or five times larger but also more sophisticated and diverse with higher expectations for a museum experience. Staff archivist Eva Gritz is a key member of the Historical Society’s MAP team.

      “We assembled a high-powered steering committee of local community leaders last year and retained a professional museum consultant to help us plan a new museum in one of our eight buildings, and you will be hearing more about it in the months ahead,” Worden said. “In the meantime, we’ve been doing the work behind the scenes that the public doesn’t necessarily see. We’ve started to ramp up staffing, and we are implementing ‘best practices’ in collections care to curate a massive collection of artifacts and photographs. We expect the MAP assessment to serve as both a checkup to ensure we’re on the right track and a roadmap for further improvements as we pursue accreditation in our field.”

      Conducted over the course of a year, MAP assessments help museums look at both functional and strategic aspects of their operations; examine diversity, equity, access, and inclusion issues as they relate to the assessment focus; and include a peer-reviewed site visit.

      This is our first monthly “EV toolkit,” which focuses on programs and incentives to help lower the price of an EV. These toolkits will bring together a variety of EV information in one place: a news article, a few social media recommendations, key web links, images, and other helpful EV tools and resources.

       

      We plan to share toolkits with you on a variety of EV themes. We hope you enjoy the consolidated information and will share with your constituents and/or others in your community.

      • Detour: From southbound I-5, exit Magic Mountain Pkwy, reenter northbound I-5 at Magic Mountain Pkwy, continue on northbound I-5 to SR-126.

      Essential Details    

      • Work hours: Monday through Friday and Saturday, as needed from 7am to 4pm and 7pm to 6am. Crews will begin to mobilize at 6am.    
      • No two consecutive ramps in the same direction will not be closed at the same time. Detours to the next on-ramp will be posted for each closure. 
      • Traffic will be maintained in each direction. 
      • All lanes will be reopened by 6am each morning.
      • No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours.
      • The speed limit in construction work zones is reduced to 55-miles per hour.
