My family moved to SCV in 1969, it is amazing how it has become the largest city in Los Angeles! Did you know that there are more first responders per capita right here in our own backyard than anywhere in the country? Awesome!
I’m a daughter of a retired Fire Captain, my son-in-law is a Sheriff Deputy, and I have a large network of First Responders in my life, such as; Police, Sheriff Deputies, Firefighters, EMT’s, Nurses, Doctors, and Telecommunications Operators.
Something that they all have in common is that the occupational stress of their job puts them at higher risk for SUICIDE, PTSD, Mental Health Issues and Addiction, in fact SAMSHA states that this segment of the population has a 30% greater suicide rate than that of the general population.. In fact, I lost a lifelong friend who was a firefighter who committed suicide- this Cause and Mission is Personal to me. I will make a change in an Industry that has struggled to ask for help - Our First Responders who are our Heroes when we are in times of need! If you know a First Responder that is suffering, please reach out to us for help...
First Responders Save Lives on a daily basis, some of them are not well and that effects not only them but their families and the communities. It is time for us to give back and save our First Responders!
